LOS and LYON play a Swiss Round 5 elimination match at Worlds 2026 on Saturday, and the loser goes home. LYON have lost two straight series that both went three games, and LOS have won four of the five games they have played in best of threes at this event.

The Matchup

The first elimination match of Round 5 pairs two teams that reached 2-2 by opposite roads. LOS lost their first two games at Worlds 2026, to T1 and G2 Esports, and have been playing elimination matches ever since. They swept Team Secret Whales 2-0 on Monday, then beat Team Liquid Alienware 2-1 on Friday to stay alive.

LYON started 2-0, beating Team Secret Whales and Karmine Corp, and have lost twice since, falling 2-1 to Gen.G and 2-1 to Invictus Gaming. The winner on Saturday in Allen, Texas takes one of the last three quarterfinal spots.

The loser goes home. LOS start Zest, Curse, Feisty, Duduhh and Ackerman, the five they have used all event, and LYON start Dhokla, Inspired, Saint, Berserker and Isles. Neither team has reported a substitute or a role swap. It is a best of three with Fearless Draft.

Key Factors

LOS's route to a game runs through Curse, and Friday showed why. His Trundle went deathless with seven kills in the first game against Team Liquid, counter-jungling Quid's Sylas and ganking top until the game bent around him.

In the deciding game his Pantheon landed the early ganks, LOS stacked three dragons behind a Baron take, and the gold lead passed 7,000 before Team Liquid's late Baron steal dragged it out. Zest's top lane Tristana was the other half of that snowball, picked to break the top side open with two global ultimates behind it. When LOS get their jungler ahead early, they play like a team that belongs in this round.

LYON's problem is that their week peaked last Saturday. They have lost four of the six games they have played across their two best of threes, and both series went the full three games. Their losses came against the strongest opposition in the Swiss stage, Gen.G at 3-0 and an Invictus Gaming side already through to the quarterfinals, and that context is real. But LOS do not need to be better than LYON for three games.

They need one early jungle lead in one game, and Curse has just shown the whole tournament how he produces one. The counterpoint cuts the other way too: LYON took a game off both of those elite sides, something LOS have not done against anyone of that class, and if Inspired controls the early river the way he did in LYON's two wins, LOS's skirmish game never gets started.

Our Pick
LOS +1.5 maps (-128)

LYON are the likely winners, and their two losses say more about the draw than about them. But they have not finished a series early all event, and LOS are playing the best series League of their lives with a jungler who just dismantled the LCS champions. One game is all this pick needs. Take LOS +1.5 maps at -128.

Our Projected Score
LYON 2-1
